This region is one of the most scenic of all in Italy and includes two stunning Renaissance art towns: Urbino and Ascoli Piceno. There are plenty of beaches to enjoy and old towns at every turn of the road. Includes the cities of Ancona, Ascoli Piceno, Macerata, Pesaro e Urbino.
Enjoy this region while you can as they is the "next Tuscany" for North American tourists. There is hill-top town after hill-top town with rich history and great architecture. Give yourself adequate time as the roads wind around the non-stop hills and it just seems to take forever to get anywhere.,
While in Urbino we "asked the local" where he would go to relax and within minutes we were on out way to the town of Sirolo.

The Adriatic Coast offers broad sandy beaches and many tourist developments. But at Sirolo, the scene is much more dramatic.
Here, cliffs come down to the sea, there is no modern development, and there is the opportunity to walk along a series of coves looking at the turquoise water.
Now, Pensione Arturo is not for the "Holiday Inn" set. It is a clean, basic little pensione, with seven rooms, the majority face directly onto the sea. (It is the small yellow building in the photo to the left.)
Mario and Armando Mengassini run a great place. The hotel is open from June to September and is located down the hill from the pleasant little town of Sirolo.
Just follow the signs for the Urbani Spiaggia. There is a parking lot where you can drop off your bags and then walk down the steps to the beach and the hotel.
