Amaranth
Amaranth refers to a herb, of which there are a number of species with colours ranging from red to gold colour tones.
When I used this ink I saw the pink and violet tones come out. The color swatch from the Diamine web site maybe indicates they meant it to be a pink.
It is an interesting colour and has looked very good on cards or short personal notes.
This is a bold colour a beautiful blend of violet and pink tones. This, however, it the original colour issued. Good performing ink, very similar to the other colours of the Diamine line.
The colour swatch on the Diamine web site is fairly representative of the colour of ink.
In 2011 Diamine re-issued this colour, noting that the dyes used to produce the original shade are no longer available. In the remake, which they note is a opportunity to produce the ink closer to the true crimson colour, the ink takes on a red/brown look, rather than pink.
I have not had the opportunity to try the new Crimson yet, so I can't offer any comments on its performance.
A lighter shade of pink. Almost as pastel colour. I have only done a preliminary test of this ink, it probably will be limited to cards and personal notes.

A very bright, bold pink. This is it. You can write with this ink on a card and your words really stand out.
![]()
A pink/violet of of ink. Probably not for business use, but looks good on a card where there is just a few lines of writing.
Performs well, consistent with the other Diamine inks in terms of flow and drying.
Colour sample on the Diamine web site highlights the pink tone of this ink.
