Delta/Chatterley Dolcevita Fusion Star, Autunno
The Autunno is a limited edition pen Delta produced for Chatterley/Pen Time. The pen uses the Dolcevita body, cap and internal mechanism. It is a limited production of 18 pens. I am very pleased to have #15. I never realized on my 2012 visit to the Delta factory, where they told me how their method producing small production runs, that I would have quite this many small-production run pens by Delta.
I was drawn to this pen by its colour. Although the name Autunno made me think it would be much more of a red-orange, I think the delicate flecks of yellow/gold that are in the red are the reason for that name. But forget the orange, this is a bold red pen.
I find the Dolcevita body to be particularly well suited for my hand. As you can see in my Pens of Note, I have acquired a few of these! They are excellent writing pens. They have a classy look. The piston ink fill mechanism holds a good amount of ink.
The cap has a star logo, the name of this series that Chatterley Pen commissioned with Delta. The clip and the gold band at the base of the cap are classic Delta. The small gold band gives the pen a rich look. The clip is sturdy and the small ball helps with fixing the clip in a shirt pocket.
There is a small cap at the end of the pen that covers the piston fill system. Unscrew the cap and you can twist the top of the piston to expel or draw up ink. I like the Delta ratchet piston system. It produces a series of clicks when you have turned it to the fullest. No concern of stripping the threads if the piston system.
A small window just above the threads shows if there is ink in the pen or now. I like this and I don't. A little portion of the window appears when the cap is screwed on.
The nib is the new Delta Fusion nib. The Fusion is a steel nib with a piece of 18 kt gold fussed on top of the steel. Delta produces this nib in the factory. I find the Fusion nib a great nib to write with. I particularly like the stub.
Some comments on discussion boards refer to this as a steel nib, but regardless of how you view the final product, it is a very smooth writing nib.
