Pens of Note

Delta - Chatterley Dolcevita Fusion Star, Circo Matte

This limited edition pen was made by Delta for Chatterley Pens. The pen body, cap and internal mechanisms use that of the classic Delta Dolcevita. I have a number of these pens, I have been selecting pens in this line because of the match for my hand and the quality of build and good style of the materials.

The name, Circo Matte, refers to the circles of colours or warm rich orange red and blue. The celluloid has an interesting matt finish. The unpolished finish gives look and feel of warm and I believe it intensifies the colours.

The pen has, like many of the others in the Chatterly Fusion Star collection, was madein a limited production. There are ten of these pens. I am very pleased to have #4.

I went to one of the meetings of the Seattle Pen Club. This meeting was where the members meet in Bellingham which is a lot closer to Vancouver. At a meeting last year, one of the members had the Stantuffo Mocha in with a matte finish. The pen caught my eye. At the time I regretted not getting it. It was years later that I was able to acquire that particular pen.

On the top of the cap there is a tasteful star logo, which goes with the name of this series - Fusion Star. Chatterley commissioned Delta to produce the pens.

The clip and the band at the base of the cap are the classic Delta parts, this pen has sterling silver trim which I think goes very well with the green tones. The body and cap are made from celluloid. Therefore the pen is relatively light, with the main weight fromthe piston mechanism. The body measures 14-16 mm in width. A small cap at the end of the body covers the knob for the piston fill system. Just unscrew the cap and you can twist the top of the piston to expel or draw up ink. A small window just above the threads shows if there is ink in the chamber.

The pen is fitted with the #6 Delta Fusion nib. The Fusion nib is a steel nib with a piece of 18 kt gold fussed on top of the steel. This nib is produced at the Delta factory. I find the Fusion nib a great nib to write with. I particularly like the stub.

So one more for my collection, and this one is favorites of the line because of the colours of the celluloid. The pens, made for Chatterly Pens, while available have Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad and Stub Fusion nib options.
