PENS OF NOTE

Of the pens I have, the following are what I refer to as my pens of note... they represent particular favorites of my collection.

Aurora

Aurora

This Italian pen company dates back to 1919. The factory was originally located in the heart of Turin, and was rebuilt in 1943 in Abbbadia di Stura, just out the central city area.

Pens of note include:

I find the Aurora Talentum to be a very well balanced pen. It is one of those pens that just feels good in the hand.
Bexley Americana

Bexley

Founded in 1993 by vintage pen enthusiasts, this American pen company creates pens the reflect the designs of those found in the Gold Age of Fountain Pens.

Pens of note include:

The Americana is a large pen, and the rich red colour that I have always stands out.

Delta

Delta

In 1982 Nino Marino, Ciro Matrone and Mario Muscente formed a partnership and established Delta Pen.

I am working on arrangements to visit with Delta Pen, located in Naples this year (2012) and hope to include more information after that visit.

Pens of note include:

Delta Dolcevita - the iconic pen from Italy.
Faber-Castell

Faber-Castell

The Ambition and Mondoro are two "work horses" type of pens. They are very well made and have good performance.

Pens of note include:

Quality construction, classic designs, with a great writing experience.
Krone

Krone

I have two fountain pens by Krone. After many years of seeing their pens in advetisements I now can join others who own a Krone. I am impressed with the pens.

Pens of note include:

Krone pens can be difficult to find in some markets. Once you have one, you will always be on the lookout for others.
Laban

Laban

I recently added a couple of the Laban Mento fountain pens to my collection. A reasonably priced, large, impressive pen. I have been impressed.

Pens of note include:

I have built up a collectionof Mento pens, great big pen, and many with beautiful colours.
Montblanc

Montblanc

Individuals from three backgrounds (stationary, banking, engineering) joined in 1906 to form this company. By 1909 the company opened agencies in Paris, London and Barcelona. Now, the name Montblanc is an iconic name to represent writing and other high quality accessories.

Pens of note include:

The ultimate big black pen.
Montegrappa

Montegrappa

When I picked up and wrote with the Montegrappa Extra I knew this was a pen for me. A full size pen with a killer nib. I have added other models. Great writting pens.

Pens of note include:

The smoothness of the nibs, the attention to detail in the design of the pens make Montegrappa pens stand out.
OMAS

OMAS

Wen you write with an OMAS pen you will be impressed with their nibs. The nib on an OMAS pen is incredibly smooth. My collection of OMAS pens is growing, each with its own unique writing experience.

Pens of note include:

An Italian pen with very classic looks, even the update models have good lines in term of their design.
Pelikan

Pelikan

Pelikan first produced fountain pens in 1929. They used a new patented piston filling system. The style and internal mechanisms of Pelikan are a benchmark of quality.

The Souverän series is known as a pen with noteworth construction, a smooth nib and flawless filling system.

Pens of note include:

The M800 Souverän is to me one of the classic pens, well made, elegant appearance, and nibs that are smooth and interchangeable.
Stipula Alter Ego

Stipula

A relatively new company, being founded in 1973. In 1991 Stipula started to produce pens made under its own name. The Etruria line has a classic look and great feel.

Pens of note include:

The Stipula Etruria line is one of those classic looking pens. The nibs are outstanding. A great writing experience.
Visconti Opera

Visconti

Two collectors of fountain pens, Dante Del Vecchio and Luigi Poli, set up this company in 1988. They started to produce and market celluloid fountain pens. Tthe Opera, Divina and Ragtime are now in my collection.

Pens of note include:

Great pens, classic looks and smooth writing nibs.
Waerman Opera

Waterman

I have always been impressed with Waterman. The Man 100, Patrician, Edson and Exception make up a great group of Pens of Note.

Pens of note include:

I rank Waterman as one of the best fountain pens - from classic looks to superior workmanship.
