On my 2007 visit to Bologna I had the pleasure of visit the pen store operated by Pasquale Alcione -- Al Balanzone.
There is plenty of leather goods in the window, but do walk in and you find that Pasquale carries a good stock on pens in all the main lines. If you don't see a particular pen, ask, as trays of pens are brought out.
Downstairs there is more leather assessories and fine leather books for photos or writing.
Pasquale has been the owner of the store for the past four years. Drop by and say hello. You will find it a pleasure to look and the store and talk about pens.
The store is closed Thursday afternoons.

Bologna is one of those hidden treasures of Italy. The city has some of the best food I have ever eaten. The architecture is outstanding. A tour of the Omas factory is planned for 2007 and I am looking forward to returning to the city.
The city also has a great pen store. My review includes comments from a number of pen shoppers. Always a positive experience. This pen shop is in the center of Bologna within a medieval palace, about 10 minutes from the railway station. Just in the window displays you can admire a large collection of new and vintage pens. Entering the shop, ask for their collection of vintage, new Omas, Visconti, Aurora or other pens and they will lead you into their exhibition rooms and show you a whole treasury of pens. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They speak Italian, French and a little English. Coming to Bologna enjoy the beauty of the city and the aura of this great pen store. [P. Bayer]

The proprietor, Stefano Germano, is a famous collection and historian. He is the author of a splendid book titled Storia Universale delle Stilografica. The shop was founding by Stefano's father in 1925. Bologna is not a city to be missed, and when there you must make this shop one of your destinations. [Thanks to: Giovanni Abrate]
