Great Pen Stores - Stores of Note - Netherlands
The Hague and Amsterdam, The Netherlands
P.W. Akkerman has received positive reviews from a variety of pen enthusiasts as well as a recent write-up in PenWorld. The store, founded in 1910, is located behind the house of Parliament. Not only does the store sell an extensive inventory of pens, but they have also offered their own line. The staff are very helpful. Paul Rutte is the Store Manager. The store is a must for any visitor as it includes pens and a collection of some 300+ ink bottles. One of them a sealed, blown-glass bottle of French Juhlia ink that dates from 1900s.
Gasser from Pennsylvania notes this store has a great collection of pens including some Lamy pens not usually seen in North America. They have a "house pen", a small bottle filling pen from Lamy with a 14K nib. They also carry a wooden barrel plastic pen by Lamy designed to be a child's first pen. J. Norstedy from Blacksburg Virginia has also written in about this store. The staff are very helpful. H. Schoeyer from the Netherlands says this is one of the best stores in Europe.
GW Pen and Paper Shop
Located outside of the main downtain area in a mall. Gelderlandplein 115, NL1082 LV Amsterdam, The Netherlands Shop started some four years ago by its owner (G. Olie). He is committed to pens and intends to build the selection particularly in the limited editions. He carries a wide selection and has a particular interest in Omas pens. Recently changed name from Pens Plus to GW Pen and Paper Shop. It is in a one-floor Mall/indoor shopping center several blocks from Novotel Amsterdam and the RAI metro train stop.
Binneweg, 2101 JM
A substantial, stylish pen store located in Heemstede run by Rinco and Margaret Roos. The store is easy to located because of the copy of a Montblanc Meisterstuck pen outside the store. You can find all the known lines as well as an extensive selection of limited edition pens.
La Couronne du Comte
I am told the owner, Dennis de Graaf is a pen-aholic and has a passion to pens. The store is in a new location. The hours of operation are listed on their web site.
