MARCUS TRAVEL JOURNAL
We look forward to returning to France. It has been too long.
For our 2022 travels we fly direct from Vancouver to Paris, and will stay in Paris for the first week. Then we will travel by TGV to Marseille. From there, we will travel by car through the South of France.
The area around Avignon will be our base. We have two different locations where we will stay. The accomodations look great and we are looking forward to the relaxing lifestyle of the South of France. We believe you can drink Rose at any time of the day!
Deux verres de rose s'il vous plait
We look forward to returning to Paris. We have been able to book "our" apartment in Paris. It is located just off the exciting rue Montorgueil. We have been staying here for a number of years and this is like a second home to us. We enjoy the neighbourhood and it is well positioned in terms of Metro lines to visit all of Paris.
Avignon is a city with a rich history, including the Palace of the Popes. Avignon was one of the designated residences for the Popes when they fled Rome for safety. Each of our houses are a short dive from Avignon. the first in the town of Vedène and the second in the town of Les Angles (Gard).
Touring the South of France
Our time in the South of France will be early in terms of the time when the lavender fields bloom. If we are lucky, and if there is warm weather, we may be in the area at the start of the season. The photo above which I found while reseaching the area is a motivating photograph and I am looking forward to take my own photos of the fields. See - Lavender for information on the routes.
Town of Les Angles, Gard
The old centre of Les Angles, Gard, looks very charning. There is more than one town in the South of France called Les Angles, so it is important for us to remember, ours in the Department of Gard.
Regions of France
We will be staying right near the boarder of the Occitanie and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Regions.
Gordes is considered one of the jewels of the Vaucluse département in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. The best route to visist is the D2 and then the D15 roads when coming from Cavaillon. Taking this route you can get this iconic view of the village.
We may visit the beautiful town of Nîmes. The last time we were there Karen had a root canal, and Glenn purchased a special pen - so we both have fond memories of this town. I spent a fair amount of the time walking along the charming canal that runs through the town.
