(2009) We had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Zephyrus. It has an ideal location, just blocks from the old centre and harbour. Nice, quality furnishing, large bathroom, and kitchenette.
Rooms vary from traditional to modern. Kitchens are equipped with pressed coffee makers, some pots, plates and glasses for four. We had two rooms and one room was a little better equipped than the other, but both were satisfactory.
We did not have a view from our room but there was a little balcony that was available to two rooms that overlooked the courtyard. We enjoyed a dinner in the courtyard which was very nice. In the beginning we were not sure what outdoor furniture was available for the hotel guests and which belonged to the permanent residents but we just went ahead and moved in. Turned out we picked the right table!!
Coffee, juice, yogurt and cereal was supplied. The hotel is under a restriction that does not allow them to serve breakfast. We found this to be the one downside of the place. Nearby pastry shops have croissants that were only adequate. It may be best to buy something the night before if you see a place that looks good.
The Zephyrus is located on a very narrow street. It is best not to drive down to it as you may find you are trapped and can’t get back to the parking. There was unpaid, outdoor parking a couple of blocks up the hill from the hotel.
We really enjoyed the old centre of Split and were very glad that we used it as our base. From there we did day trips to Hvar Town and Trogir…neither place needs more than 3 - 4 hours, including a relaxing lunch.
Our stay in this Boutique Guest House was very comfortable and pleasant and we have no qualms in recommending it.
