Compania
Along the west coast of Italy, with the Tyrrhenian Sea along its coast, Compania stretches from just north of Naples to south of Sapri.
Greeks, Etruscans, and Romans all occupied this region at one time and the architecture across the region illustrates such a past.
Over the past years our journeys have taken us to Naples and the the Amalfi Coast.

This Region has the Amalfi Coast, a long time favorite area of Italy for us, and many others judging by the crowds. We typically stay at Amalfi and use that as our base for the region.
The image to the left is the scenic town of Atrani, which is just beside Amalfi.
This visit inspired one of our Marcus Moments cards - the old clock is the focal point in the town when walking down the road. It overlooks the central piazza with cafes although this is not one of the hot spots of the Amalfi Coast. Very very laid back. Other images are available on photographybymarcus.com

The inside of the Duomo is stunning. No charge if you are attending mass, but since 2009 the church now charges an admission fee.
One of the religious festivals of Amalfi, the patron saint is carried down the endless stairs of the Duomo, through the Piazza, along the waterfront and then back. It takes a crows of men pushing each other to get the statute back up the steep stairs and back into the Duomo.
This is the centre of Amalfi... sit here and enjoying being on the Amalfi Coast and watching the scene. Bring you wallet as the drinks in these cafes are expensive.
From the piazza the steep stairs lead up the Duomo.
Looking from Atrani towards Amalfi, along the Coast.
From the small piazza in front of the church in Atraini there is a staircase down to the road. From the top of the stairs there is a view that will remain with you for many years.
Amalfi Coast, think of cliffs, towns built into the clifs and the water.
The clock in Arani is an icon. Atrani is the town 1 km from Amalfi.
Positano has numerous streets of steps. The town itself is quite a hike down from the road.
Ravello has remains of a number of very large villas which had their own chapels.

Pleasant gardens are terraced into the clliff at the Hotel Villa San Michele, our second home.
About an hour by bus is Sorrento.
