Types of Champagne
The amount of sugar added just before the final corking of the champagne sets the sweetness.
- Doux - the sweetest level.
- Demi-sec or half half-dry being the next level.
- Sec - or dry is next on the scale.
- Extra Sec - or extra dry is the next to driest. This is actually sweeter than the Brut as it does contain sugar.
- Brut - which stands for almost completely dry is at the end of the scale. Some producers make Brut wine with no added sugar.
