Galleria Mazzini - Genova

The Galleria Giuseppe Mazzini is one of the classic walkways in the center of Genoa. It is named after the Italian patriot, Giuseppe Mazzini. It was built between 1870 and 1880 inspired by the famaouse passages of Paris and the grand Galleria Vittoria Emanuele II in Milan.

The gallerie was built after the via Assarotti was finished. This is part of the grand reconstrucftion of the city.

The floor of today was installed in 1992. The for celebrations for Columbis was a reason for renewal of buildings across Genova. The original store slabs of the 1970s werre replaced with the polished surface of the floor we see today. For the G8 meeting that took place in Genova in 2001, the paving of the Mazzini gallery was enhanced with stained glass domes, four octagonal marble mosaics and polished brass.
