PROVINCIA DI PISTORIA DELLA TOSCANA
Larciano was fortified by Pistoia with a strong wall that surrounds the town at the end of 1200s. The walls are in good condidtion.
Montecatini Terme — we stayed here and found the Terme and the city to be scenic. It is 15 km west of Pistoia and they say if you have to see only one of Italy's spa's, this is it. People go here for the water. It is good for just about anything that ailes you. In the 19th century this was on the "A" list of places to go and the place was really built up in style.
Take the cable car up to the village at the top of the hill, Montecatini Alto, and there is a pleasant piazza lined with cafes and good for an outdoor meal in the evening.
Pistoia — some say this is a gloomy town. We stayed here one year as we could not get a hotel in Florence, and then we took the train in each day. Well, Pistoia has some of the best gelato in Italy and a few sights to see as well.
The Duomo located on the Piazza del Duomo has Pisan arcades and stripes. Inside there is plenty of art work. The Altar of St. Hames is the noted attraction to see. Think solid silver. The Bapistry located across from the Duomo is considered one of the most outstanding Gothic buildings in Tuscany.
